Spring into September: Tips for this Season

September 01, 2020

Combat the effects of seasonal change with Emma’s top tips to radiate beauty this Spring.

SKIN RESET

During winter, the skin wants extra nourishment and protection from the elements. But the change in weather and environmental conditions of each season impact the skin in different ways. That’s why coming into Spring we should reassess our skincare routine.

Start this season with a proper cleansing and exfoliating routine – essential to remove excess dead skin cells from the surface, allowing for better absorption of other skincare products. This means you can get the full benefits of Serum/Primer as the active ingredients penetrate the deeper layers of the skin.

Daily cleansing and regular exfoliating encourage the turnover of new skin cells for fresh, happy skin – perfect for the season that brings new life.

PREP FOR SUN

Although the air may still feel cold, the sun is starting to feel harsher, and the weather is warming up. While the use of sunscreen is encouraged year-round, to protect the skin from the damaging effects of UVA and UVB rays, it’s essential to remember this step as we get closer to the sunnier months of the year.

Our customer care team is often asked, where does SPF sit in my beauty routine? Well, here’s the answer.

By function, sunscreen acts as a film barrier on the skin, and given the nourishing properties of Concealer/Foundation, we want all of those nutrients to sink into the skin. The way that SPF will work best with Concealer/Foundation is if it’s applied and given time to set before makeup application.

After your usual skincare routine, apply your SPF and give it time to settle on the skin. No need to stand around waiting, this is an excellent opportunity to pick out your outfit or make a morning coffee.

Follow with Serum/Primer, Concealer/Foundation and your choice of Cheek/Lip Tint and Radiance.

Allowing previous products to set will reduce slippage and the likelihood of transfer, and provide maximum makeup longevity. Plus, instead of sitting on the surface, Concealer/Foundation will soak into the skin for that dewy, natural finish.

GET YOUR GLOW ON

Get Your Glow On

As warm days pair with cooler evenings, match the morning dew with a dewy makeup look. As always, one of our favourite tricks is to mix a small amount of Radiance with Concealer/Foundation for a luminous finish.

The beautiful champagne tone to Radiance ~ Moon will accentuate your glowing complexion in the soft, Spring light. Mix one part Radiance to three parts Concealer/Foundation and apply to the skin using the Diffuser Brush. This will brighten the complexion, for a healthy, youthful glow.

Bring out your inner radiance and brighten up your day with this fast and easy technique. Radiance ~ Moon will diffuse light across the face and create a fresh and awake look.

PLAY WITH COLOUR

Play with Colour

Spring is a great excuse to play with colour. Soft, warm tones, such as rose, champagne and peach on the cheeks, lips and eyes are a great way to give the skin a healthy glow.

To lend a bit of comforting creativity to your routine, here is Emma’s go-to Springtime look.

Start with a base of Concealer/Foundation and Radiance ~ Moon. Blush the cheeks with Cheek/Lip Tint ~ Rêve for a dreamy and wistful flush, followed with Radiance ~ Moon across the eyelids to illuminate the eyes.

Heighten the perfection of this look with a unique colour combination for the lips. Make your smile pop with a mix of Crush and Ascend, applied with a lip brush. The peachy-coral tone of Ascend boosts the berry in Crush, creating a fun new shade for Spring.

Hit refresh and start this season with a beauty routine that is sure to uplift your spirits.
